The HERD Institute® EFL Advanced Certification is open to all HERD EFL Foundation Graduates. This level expands on the philosophy and practices from Foundation to advance your understanding of the principles of The HERD Model™. This level also provides the opportunity to specialize in working with specialized populations (Working with Vulnerable Populations/ Helping the Helpers/Corporate and Professional Development).
Who Can Apply?
The HERD Institute Equine-Facilitated Learning (EFL) Advanced Certification is open to all HERD graduates who have completed the EFL Foundation Certification.

*Tuition is in US Dollars and includes all learning materials for online modules, 3-day intensive, and 3 mentoring sessions. It does NOT include travel, accommodation, and lunch each day during the 3-day intensive.

What Will You Learn?
The training is offered through 2 online modules and one in-person 3-day workshop. Through the help of our herd of horses, you will stretch your facilitation skills to design and deliver more impactful sessions for your participants. The 3-day workshop will include case study discussions and experiential exercises to demonstrate the theory, and a presentation of students’ capstone project.
The HERD Institute EFL Advanced Certification equips practitioners with the breadth and depth of knowledge, skills, and ethical guidelines required to design and deliver powerful and transformational experiences for your participants. The program is structured to deepen the philosophical, theoretical, and experiential foundations for you to integrate into your own personal philosophy. The Intensives will cover:
- Digging Deeper: Facilitation skills through an empathetic lens (Online)
- Embodying The HERD Model: Relational awareness and connection (Online)
- Specialization: Designing population-specific programs (3-day Workshop)
GRADUATE MEMBERSHIP
As a graduate of The HERD Institute®, we are proud to promote your achievements and success. We believe in continuing the support and guidance offered during the training, post certification. A Graduate Membership Fee of $150, to be paid annually on the anniversary of your graduation, brings the benefit of being listed on our website as a graduate of the institute, allowing clients to find you more easily, and acts as a referral point. Continued supervision will also be available at a discounted rate of $65/hour*. Graduates will also be invited to present at conferences, co-author articles, co-facilitate workshops, and/or assist in training certifications as a way of expanding your experience. The HERD Institute® is committed to maintaining contact with our graduates to deepen the connections within the HERD Community. To maintain membership, graduates must also complete 10 hours of Continued Education annually.
