HERD - A sense of belonging is the heartbeat of the herd tagline

HERD stands for Human-Equine Relational Development. At The HERD Institute®, we pride ourselves on the compassionate and relational way we work with both horses and humans. We believe that healing and learning occurs in the context of relationships. We offer training and certifications in the art of equine-facilitated psychotherapy and learning. Founded on experiential learning principles and academic excellence, our training is designed to incorporate a cultural competency framework.

We also offer a range of workshops and retreats aimed for personal and professional development. Whether you want to take some time to explore your own process, or add to your skill set, The HERD Institute® can support you on your journey.

The HERD Institute® is committed to The 25 principles of The Compassionate Equestrian. We are proud to be a member of HETI International and a PATH International Affiliate. Our programs are also eligible for MyCAA funding, making us the ONLY equine facilitated training provider to be endorsed by Military ONE Source.
